Words from Dr. Pavithra S Iyer

Ayurveda, an ancient healing science based on the studies and observations of our Acharya’s.  Acharya’s have given much importance to the knowledge obtained by direct perception, inference, testimony and reasoning. Ayurveda gives priority to maintain the harmony between the inner and outer universe to achieve the state of physical, mental and spiritual wellness.  Everything in the universe is composed of five basic elements. These elements combine and give rise to three functional bio energies in the body. These bio energies are responsible for all the biological, physiological and psychological functions of body and mind.  Balance & imbalance of these bio energies are health and disease respectively.

Unique concept of ‘Prakruti’ categorizes the people based on their physical, mental, behaviour and emotional features. This concept is useful in the maintenance of health, prevention, treatment of diseases and to achieve longevity. It helps to choose the appropriate food, drinks and environment to keep individual healthy. Each individual must know his own prakruti for maintenance of health. Lifestyle, metabolic and psycho-somatic disorders are prevailing in present days thus correcting the ways of living is important to protect our self from these diseases. Adopting Ayurveda lifestyle will help in leading a happier and healthier life.
